No tax increase in Berkeley budget

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP – The 2017 budget delivers good news for property owners: there’s no tax increase planned.

Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said the Township Council introduced Berkeley’s $45,272,831 spending plan at a special meeting Friday, March 17. The municipal purposes tax rate will remain at 61.8 cents per $100 of assessed property value, the same as last year’s budget.

The owner of a home assessed at $199,500, the township’s average, will pay $1,232 in taxes this year to support the municipal portion of the budget if the council adopts the spending plan next month. That’s the same amount as last year. Read More….
