BERKELEY TWP-New Jersey Natural Gas announced their intent to raise their rates by 19%, but Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen F. Amato, Jr., today announced his strong opposition to the exorbitant increase that could leave New Jersey residents rubbing nickels together to make heat next year.

Congratulations on your election as a member of the Ocean County Republican County Committee & the Berkeley Township Republican Municipal Committee. The Berkeley Township Republican Municipal Committee, which you are now an elected member, will reorganize on MONDAY, JUNE 11th at AMATO TEAM HQ, 333 Route 9 in Bayville. The Meeting will take place at 5:30pm. Light fare, drinks, coffee and dessert will be provided. We will also be distributing your 2018 committee packet. This packet will assist you in fulfilling your duties to our Organization.
The Ocean County Republican County Committee, which you are also now an elected member, will reorganize on TUESDAY, JUNE 12th at The RAMADA INN, 2373 Route 9 in Toms River. The Meeting will take place at 6:00pm. Refreshments will be provided.

No tax increase in Berkeley budget

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP – The 2017 budget delivers good news for property owners: there’s no tax increase planned.

Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said the Township Council introduced Berkeley’s $45,272,831 spending plan at a special meeting Friday, March 17. The municipal purposes tax rate will remain at 61.8 cents per $100 of assessed property value, the same as last year’s budget.

The owner of a home assessed at $199,500, the township’s average, will pay $1,232 in taxes this year to support the municipal portion of the budget if the council adopts the spending plan next month. That’s the same amount as last year. Read More….

Berkeley Budget Down, Tax Rate May Not Change

BERKELEY – The budget introduced at today’s special Township Council meeting included no change in the tax rate. If it stays the same when it is formally adopted in April, Berkeley residents will not see any increase in taxes on the municipal level.

According to township figures, the tax rate will be 61.8 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. This would be the same rate as 2016. Read More….

A new Project Medicine Drop box for expired and unused prescription medications was unveiled Friday at the township police department.

Veterans get discount at Cedar Creek Golf Course

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP — Veterans and active military members can now play golf at Cedar Creek for half-price.

The Township Council recently amended Berkeley’s golf course ordinance to establish half-price greens fees for veterans and active military at township-owned Cedar Creek Golf Course.

Greens fees are $18 on weekdays for residents, and $28 for non-residents. Veterans and active military would pay $9 or $14 on weekdays, depending on whether they live in Berkeley. Read More…

$700K for Beachwood Shopping Center study

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP — A $700,000 state grant will help the township investigate contamination at the Beachwood Shopping Center.

Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said Berkeley will receive $712,380 in Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Funding, administered by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Read More….
